Ideas
What to put in a new baby song
- The day and the hour
- Who was in the room
- The first thing everyone noticed
- How early or late they were
- Their tiny hands
- What you hope for them
- Who they already take after
- The name and why you chose it
Three steps
Tell us who it is for
Their name, who they are to you and the occasion.

Genres that suit
Pick one to start with. The language, genre, mood and voice carry over to the song maker.
Three weeks early, tightest little fists
The details that make a baby song are the ones you will want to remember. Noah’s example was written the week he arrived, three weeks early and in a hurry, with the tightest little fists and a stubborn streak already like his dad’s.
For the parents, from the grandparents
Make it as a gift from the grandparents, or from the parents to the baby. Their name is sung in the song and respelled for the singer so it comes out the way it is said.
A lullaby or a celebration
Pick a calm mood for a lullaby, or joyful for a celebration. Noah’s is a joyful pop song sung by a choir.
A link for the whole family group chat
Every song gets a link that plays anywhere, so the whole family can hear it at once, and an audio file to keep.
Two ways to make it
In your browser, or in the iPhone app
In the iPhone app
