Ideas
What to put in a song for dad
- The car he drove
- The thing he always says
- A Saturday morning ritual
- What he taught you to fix
- His terrible joke
- The advice you ignored then used
- How he shows he cares
- Where he is happiest

Genres that suit
Pick one to start with. The language, genre, mood and voice carry over to the song maker.
The van, the sayings, the Saturday mornings
Dads are remembered in objects and routines. Marcus’s example song is built from an old blue van that somehow always started, Saturday mornings washing the car together and being taught to drive in an empty car park. Small, specific details beat big ones.
Father’s Day, his birthday, retirement
Any of them, or none: the occasion is optional. A retirement song can carry thirty years of the same commute; a birthday song can be about the joke he tells every year.
Folk, country, rock: his kind of song
Pick the genre he would actually put on, and a mood from nostalgic to funny. The voice is Female, Male or Choir.
Yours to keep
A song comes with an audio file to download and a link that plays anywhere, so it can be played in the car, at the table or on the phone at the party.
